[edit] Updated Borg drones

Borg alcove.png

Released: July 7, 2011

The Borg drones of 2409 can now adapt to different energy weapons after several shots. Only by remodulating weapons with a [Frequency Remodulator] (obtainable from your ship's replicator) can you overcome this. The Borg no longer rely on Interlink Nodes and do not call for Proto Drone reinforcements. However, their assimilation ability is far more powerful: it can turn a player into a drone, usually resulting in his or her teammates following advice from a previous Borg attack on the Federation in 2373 (2063):

"You may encounter Enterprise crew members who have already been assimilated. Don't hesitate to fire. Believe me, you'll be doing them a favor."
--Capt. Jean-Luc Picard

[edit] Stage 1: Borg Deep Space Incursions

Released: September 1, 2011

Alert Distress Call.png
In sector space, a red Alert: Distress Call button will appear. Clicking it brings up Captains Four of Ten or P'tor, for the Federation and KDF, respectively. They have a mission available, Borg Invasion -- <Name> Sector Block Defense (Daily) (these can appear in every sector block except Eta Eridani or Gamma Orionis):
Borg attacks in Federation and Klingon space are increasing dramatically.

To combat the threat, Starfleet and the KDF have agreed to a joint operation to stop the Borg in all affected Sector Blocks.

The <Name> Sector Block is the current focus of the Collective's attacks. Report there immediately and engage the Borg.
Fight the Borg in the <Name> Sector Block. This is a repeatable mission.
The Borg in these encounters provide five times the Skill Points of a normal Borg ship! Use an XP boost to increase the rewards even more!
as well as a daily mission “Borg Invasion Event (Daily)”:
Starfleet wants engaging the Borg and providing support for attack ships to be one of your top priorities. To make this easier for you, I have been authorized to provide you with additional resources for the upcoming conflict.

The Borg in these encounters provide five times the Skill Points of a normal Borg ship! Use an XP boost to increase the rewards even more!

You may have one 15-minute XP boost active or in your inventory. These boosts do not stack with other XP Boosts.

Be sure to turn in your mission to collect your XP Boost!
The High Council has ordered us to make fighting the Borg one of our top priorities. We must stop them now -- even our conflicts with the Federation are not as important as destroying these soulless machines.

To this end, I have been authorized to provide you with additional resources for the upcoming conflict.

Up to five players (a hard cap of six for the instance if a group is already teamed and tries to enter), which can be from either faction, can join in one of these encounters. There is a minimum level requirement of Lieutenant 6. These encounters will activate approximately every 1-2 hours for 10 minutes per sector block (with each block operating on its own timer). Players at a level below or above 45 will be changed to that level (except for the higher-level Zeta Andromedae and Orellius sector blocks). Players receive a [15 Minute Skill Bonus] once per day. There are a total of 35 accolades associated with these encounters. There is a 15 minute countdown to dispatch four Borg engagements of probes, spheres, cubes, and tactical cubes.

If you are successful, an extremely large Unimatrix 0047 Command Ship‎ (over 8500 meters in length) will warp in that uses Regeneration Probes, Tractor Probes, and fires devastating Plasma Energy Bolts. The command ship appears very similar in appearance to that of V'Ger. There are ten named vessels, of form Vessel One of Ten Unimatrix 0047. Defeating this vessel is optional but there is only a ten minute timer allotted.

There are no reward drops but the encounters give five times more skill points than normal.

For completing the daily you will receieve a choice of a Level Appropriate Item container or a Small Dilithium Ore Container.

[edit] Stage 2: Borg Ground Invasion

Released: December 1, 2011

Elite Tactical Assimilated Gorn.jpg

The Deferi Borg invasion event occurs only during three days a week, for 2 hours per event. You can check the in-game calendar to see the time until the next event.

The Ground Invasion we are working on will put a specific species home world in jeopardy. In the movie First Contact, the crew of the Enterprise views an assimilated Earth in the future. We wanted to bring this sort of tension into the game by having the Borg make an effort to assimilate a planet and show both the Federation and KDF just how difficult it is to remove the Borg from a planetary population center once they dig their heels in. The new zone will allow captains to play solo or team up with others in order to complete a host of different missions aimed at combating the Borg “creep” and rescuing as many civilians as possible before they become Borg. This will be a timed event that will take place over the course of a few hours, after which the Borg will retreat and regroup, then try again. In order to complete many of the objectives, players will need to work quickly to maximize their time and take advantage of the opening.[1]

A species in the game is going to be at risk of being assimilated and both Feds and KDF must attempt to defend the planet from being overrun with Borg. This event will most likely be a big weekly occurance. It will have multiple missions, allow anywhere between 25 and 50 players per zone and be one of the coolest repeatable ground events we have in the game. It will scale with level and have both easy and hard mission objectives that teams can attempt during the assimilation event.[2]

There are 6 accolades - killing all the named bosses in Power Plant and Probe areas, as well as completing the following missions (easy missions unlock medium missions which unlock hard missions):

There may be more missions to come as there's a platform for Com Station, but currently it's inactive.

Easy missions can be completed by a single player. Medium missions are recommended for a team of 2-3 players. Hard missions are recommended for a full team of 5 players.

[edit] Stage 3: Revised Special Task Force missions

[edit] Overview

Following the launch of Season 5, the Special Task Force (STF) missions were reworked to incorporate a number of usability changes.

  • Missions were split into a ground and space component of approximately 30 minutes average duration.
  • Missions were given a normal and elite difficulty version.
  • STFs were added to the main PvE queue alongside Fleet Actions.
  • Mission rewards were reworked. Each STF now grants tokens to use toward weapon and equipment requisitions from the Omega Force vendors on Deep Space 9.

[edit] Missions

The following missions are available as part of the Borg Invasion STF series.

[edit] Rewards

Vendors at Deep Space 9 allow you to obtain standard issue gear or the Special Reserve gear. Standard issue gear is from Borg salvage (either Encrypted Data Chips, Rare Borg Salvage, or Prototype Borg Salvage) which is traded in for a Mk X, Mk XI, or Mk XII requisition. Special Reserve gear consists of three space and ground gear sets at Mk X, XI, and XII -- Omega Force (neutral), M.A.C.O. (Federation), and Honor Guard (KDF). The Special Reserve gear is obtained from Borg Tech (normal tech for Mk X, rare tech for Mk XI, and prototype tech for Mk XII).

STF missions can be played on normal difficulty (level 45 for Mk X and Mk XI gear) or elite difficulty (level 50 with injury system for Mk XI and Mk XII gear). Each STF will give Encrypted Data Chips, dilithium, and a random bind on equip item as well as one or both of the following:

  • Rare or Prototype Borg Salvage
  • Specific Borg Tech

The six types of specific Borg Tech can be found in the following missions:

STF Space Ground
“Infected” (Ship) Shield Personal Shield Generator
“The Cure” Engine (Personal) Weapon
“Khitomer Accord” Deflector (Personal) Armor

There are numerous accolades and titles for achieving optional objectives, completing each STF multiple times, and unlocking the costumes associated with each gear set.
